I have been a member of Toastmasters since 2000, when a friend invited me to come watch his Ice Breaker speech, and I've been a DTM since 2006. My wife also is a member, and my son has been coming to meetings with us since he was about a month old. I am currently a member of Greater Lafayette Area Communicators, an advanced TM club in West Lafayette, Indiana. I've also been a member of Hanna Toastmasters in Lafayette, Indiana, and Unity Toastmasters in Columbus, Ohio. My two passions in Toastmasters are evaluation and the speech contests. In 2002 I won the District 40 evaluation contest. I have competed in the international speech contest four times; the first three times I made it as far as the District level, and in 2008 I made it all the way to the final in Calgary. That was an exciting, exhilarating, draining but amazing experience. Everything I've learned has been freely shared with me by others, and so my goal with this site is to follow their example and freely share what I've learned. |
